Exposure fears: Banned toxic chemicals found in UK mothers' breast milk

According to the Toxic Chemicals in Everyday Life Report from the Commons Environmental Audit Committee, Britons are being exposed to harmful chemicals from birth, with mothers’ breast milk containing high concentrations of flame retardants. The report found UK mothers have some of the world’s highest concentrations of flame retardants in their breast milk, some of which have now been banned. Chemical flame retardants are still being widely used in furnishings, from children’s mattresses to sofas.
